Todays TNPSC Facts
Bharat Ratna
·         Bharat Ratna is India’s highest Civilian Award. It was first awarded in 1954.
·         The actual award is designed in the shape of a Peepal leaf with Bharat Ratna inscribed in Devanagiri script in the Sun Figure.
·         The reverse side of the decoration Satyameva Jayate has been written in Hindi with an inscription of state emblem.
·         The emblem the sun and the rim are of platinum. The inscription are in burnished bronze.
·         Since 2006, no Bharat Ratna Award has been given.

Republic Day Awards
Padma Awards
They fall in line after the Bharat Ratna. They were also discontinued in 1977 along with the Bharat Ratna and award was started again in 1980.
There are three Padma Awards
1. Padma Vibhushan is the second highest National Award given for exceptional and disguished service in any field including service rendered by government employees.
2. Padma Bhushan is the third highest National Award given for distinguished service in any field.
3. Padma Shri is the fourth highest award given for distinguished service in any field.
