·         Norman Anil Kumar: Air Chief Marshal Norman Anil Kumar Browne became the country's 23rd Chief of the Air Staff. He took over from Air Chief Marshal Pradeep Vasant Naik.
·         M.C. Joshi assumes office: M.C. Joshi took over as Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in place of Prakash Chandra who retired on July 31.
·         Eminent Sanskrit Scholar passes away: Noted Sanskrit scholar and Bhagavatham exponent Malliyoor Sankaran Namboothiri (90) died at his residence in Kuruppanthara.
·         Shammi Kapoor, Actor Shammi Kapoor the dancing star who revolutionalized the image of Hindi film heroes in the 1950s and 1960s with his carefree and flam boy ant personality, died. He was 97.
·         Rui gives up directorship of Dunlop: Pawan K. Ruia, Chairman of the Ruia Group, has resigned from the directorship of Dunlop India as part of his decision to resign from the directorship of all the operating companies.
·         New Director for National Book Trust: M.A. Sikandar on deputation from Delhi University has taken over as Director of National Book Trust (India).
·         Sadananda gowda is Karnataka CM: The 58-year-old MP from Udupi-Chikmagalur will be sworn in as Karnatakas 26th Chief Minister.
·         Mahindra Joins Singapore advisory body: Mahindra & Mahindra group vice-chairman and managing director Anand Mahindra has joined the International Advisory Council of Singapore, a body in which Ratan Tata has also been a member in the past. A part of the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore, the International Advisory Council (IAC) was set up in January 1995 to advise the EDB on its international and regional strategies.
·         Yingluck Shinawatra: Yingluck Shinawatra has won the election as Prime Minister of Thailand. Ms. Shinawatra, 44, is the sister of the former Thai Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, and is a member of her brother's Pheu Thai party. She was elected by the House of Representatives as the 28th Prime Minister of Thailand.
·         Prahlada takes over as DIAT Vice-Chancellor: The Chief Controller of Aero Programmes, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Prahlada, has taken over as Vice-Chancellor of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a deemed-to-be university situated at Pune. The DIAT is an autonomous organisation fully funded by the DRDO, Ministry of Defence.
