World’s largest Book
A Brazilian edition of The Little Prince is the largest book ever published in the world. Originally published in 1943, this magnum opus by French writer Antoine de Saint Exupery has sold 140 million copies and been translated into nearly 260 languages.
The edition published by Eidouro Grafica e Editora Ltda (Brazil) holds the record for the largest published book, measuring 6 ft 7 in (height) and 10 ft 1 in (width) and containing 128 pages.
Saint Exupery never saw the fame his book would eventually achieve. He was serving as a World War II pilot when his aircraft was shot down, in 1944.
Two unseen, handwritten, pages of the classic children’s book by Saint Exupery were sold by auction house Artcurial in Paris on May 16, 2012.
The two pages were expected to sell for between euro 40,000 and euro 50,000
